[Nations were generally pretty sturdy. There wasn't a lot that could harm them and there wasn't a lot that could make them sick. In fact, there was pretty much nothing that could make them sick. Except for the stupid cold they got whenever the economy took a turn for the worse. When that happened there really wasn't much that could be done except deal with it until it stopped. This was currently the case with Spain and for some reason Romano was the one tasked with dealing with it.

Probably because he had volunteered and kicked France out of the house]

You just had to get sick today, didn't you? I have work to do, damn it. [He sighs, running a hand through his hair] Anyway, do you want....soup or something?

Whaaat? [He nuzzles him a bit.] You grew up just fine.

Yeah, no thanks to you. [He's well aware that he's still kind of a brat. He just doesn't want to admit that to anyone ever. He's also pretty sure he'd be worse if it wasn't for Spain but, again, never going to admit that] I mean, your fucking Spanish lessons. Who the hell teaches a kid how to say "kiss me" first? How was that supposed to help me?

[He laughs at the memory, the cold apparently putting him in a good mood despite how shitty he's feeling overall.]

You used it like five minutes later on my Queen! Don't try to act like you were completely innocent. I had to keep you away from women all the time.

Hey, your Queen was pretty. That's hardly my fault. [He also used it on Belgium. He likes flirting with women, don't judge him] Besides, that was the only thing you taught me how to fucking say at that point. What else was I supposed to say? You didn't even teach me how to greet people! Just how to ask for a kiss.

[He doesn't give him an answer because he doesn't really have one. He had never had a kid under his care and he tried his best, but he definitely made a lot of mistakes with the tiny bundle of anger and teaching him how to ask for a kiss was sadly not one of his biggest mistakes.]

But you eventually learned, didn't you? And without an accent. I wish I knew Italian as well as you know Spanish. [He always spoke French better, but he isn't about to rub that in.]

[Romano isn't really bothered. He talks big about how dumb Spain was and how bad he sucked as a caregiver but...he was actually pretty good. He put up with Romano's attitude, fed him, influenced his culture enough that it set him apart from his brother and allowed him to continue to be his own entity.....]

Yeah, eventually. I guess. [He scoffs] Your Italian still sucks. It's really damn obvious you're from a different country when you try to speak it. That's why I mostly gave up getting you to learn it. Too much hassle.

[He stifles a yawn, shifting to curl himself closer around Romano as he nuzzles his shoulder.]

'm not good at languages. Why d'ya think I made all of my protectorates learn Spanish?

I always thought it was because you were a greedy bastard and wanted a bunch of Nations running around speaking your language. [It's said more like an honest assessment than it is an insult] Anyway, if you're tired you should go to sleep.

[tierradelsol]

That too. [He's not exactly proud of how he acted when the conquering-fever hit him, but he doesn't try to hide it either. It's just what it is.]

'm not sleeping while you're here.

[Romano always does his best not to comment on that point in history]

Why the hell not? It's not like I'm gonna sneak out while you're sleeping or something.

[tierradelsol]

[He lets out a loud hmm that speaks tons of how Spain thought that was exactly what Romano was going to do.]

Can't you just lie down with me until I fall asleep? [He shows him the empty bowl of soup] I'm done eating anyway...

[pecorinoromano]

[He totally gets that and reaches over to lightly pinch Spain's cheek] You ass. Give me some credit, I'm not that much of a dick. [Yes you are, don't lie]

...God damn it. Fine! If that's what it takes to get you to rest like you should instead of running around like a moron, fine. Let me move the tray first.

OH MY GOD I'M DONE

[He grins up at him, that's being overly affectionate for Romano and Spain is going to take it.]

As long as you promise to come back.

[He huffs and stands up picking the tray up from the bed] I already said I would, moron.

[He takes the tray with him out of the room and puts it in the kitchen, rinsing the bowl out at the sink and then returning to the bedroom] See? I came back.

[tierradelsol]

[He laughs, feet wiggling under the covers as he pats the bed by his side.] I should'a trusted you. Will you stay until I fall asleep?

[pecorinoromano]

[He really doesn't mind staying. In fact, he doesn't plan to leave any time soon. But saying that is way too embarrassing] ....Yeah. I'll stay beyond that too. If you want. It...would just be inconvenient to leave and then have to come back because you need something.

[tierradelsol]

[He reaches to poke one of Romano's cheeks.] I'm the one with the fever but you're the one looking like a tomato, ain't that weird?

[pecorinoromano]

[Romano huffs and half heartedly swats at Spain's hand before flopping down on the bed next to him] Shut up. I can still change my mind and leave your ass all alone here.
